“[Cohen] is now accepted as one of the greatest technicians on her instrument and one of the best ever to play jazz on it. But she also possesses the charisma of a born bandleader.”
The Arts Fuse
“Ms. Cohen on the clarinet was a revelation. She made it look effortless ... she took my breath away.”
The New York Times
Quartetinho (pronounced “quartet-CHIN-yo”, little quartet) consists of Anat Cohen on clarinet and bass clarinet, Vitor Gonçalves on piano and accordion, Tal Mashiach on double bass and guitar, and James Shipp on vibraphone and percussion.
These musicians have had a long history of collaboration in larger groups, but this more intimate chamber ensemble allows for more creative interaction with a dazzling variety of colors. While Ms. Cohen prefers not to label their style, the music has influences from Antônio Carlos Jobim to Antonín Dvořák to Thelonious Monk.
