Educational Outreach

KidsMusicBuilding curiosity and a lifelong interest in the world of chamber music is what our outreach and education program is all about. Activities throughout the year introduce the artistically and ethnically diverse possibilities of chamber music to individuals from elementary school through college and beyond, offering cultural experiences that for many would not otherwise be possible.

We reach thousands, young and old, in the wide variety of outreach events we present. Our Concerts for Young Audience Series brings some of the world’s greatest musicians to concert halls packed with local schoolchildren; school and community visits by guest artists provide chamber music experiences in personal and interactive settings. Masterclasses, workshops and coaching sessions give aspiring young musicians the opportunity to work alongside the shining stars of today’s music world. Guest artists regularly perform at neighborhood centers and local retirement communities. “Musical Adventures in Nature,” offered during Summer Music Festival performances, celebrates the unique harmony created by music and nature with creative, thematic musical activities for young children grades K-5. Presentations to local corporations, as well as Western Michigan University’s Haworth College of Business and Business Technology Research Park, underscore the synergy between business, technology and the arts. And - thanks to the commitment and generosity of our many underwriters, sponsors and donors - we are pleased to offer outreach activities FREE OF CHARGE!

These programs affirm our belief that chamber music is powerful - that it has the ability to move, inspire and enrich the human spirit.
