A Quiet Revolution

Fri. Apr 26, 2013 | 7:30 PM
Wellspring Theater - EPIC Center - Kalamazoo, MI

After a spellbinding debut on the downtown series in 2010, internationally renowned cellist Suren Bagratuni returns in a program that reveals a turning point in French music, from the Germanic influences of the 19th Century to the impressionistic modernism of Debussy.  A colorful figure in the Parisian avant-garde of the early 20th Century, Satie’s spare and meditative Gymnopedies quietly altered the course of musical thought when they were composed in 1888.
