Carnival of the Animals
Sat. Jul 9, 2011 | 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM
Dalton Center - WMU - Kalamazoo, MI
The Swan was one of the most popular pieces during Saint-Saëns’ lifetime, and the popularity of this melancholy musical portrait of the graceful bird has endured, making it one of themost beloved classical pieces of all time. The Swan is actually the 13th movement of what the composer called a "Grand Zoological Fantasy". The Arianna String Quartet is joined by some of Kalamazoo's finest musicians in a rare performance of the Carnival of the Animals, complete with the humorous companion poems of Ogden Nash, narrated by the imcomparable D. Terry Williams.
