The venerable Juilliard String Quartet has been changing and evolving ever since it was founded in 1946, and in the process it has become an American institution. Responsible for the U.S. premiere of Bartók’s ground-breaking string quartets in 1948, the Quartet throughout its history has been an ardent champion of American composers, commissioning over sixty new works. Fontana welcomes the Juilliard String Quartet as it reinvents itself again with newly appointed first violinist, Nick Eanet.
